Childcare and nursery in Hadfield near Glossop

Hadfield House was built in the mid 1800s, belonging to Baron Howard of Glossop. Over the years, the building has been used as a hotel, a children’s home, and for the past 10 years has been the home of our nursery.

Springfield Nurseries Ltd took over Hadfield House in April 2007 and the building has been refurbished to a very high standard. The baby and preschool rooms in particular are wonderful areas for a child to play in. The baby room leads into the conservatory, ensuring lots of space for a baby to explore.

Our Sensory room is available to all children within the nursery, encouraging heuristic play.

We aim to maintain a homely atmosphere, with bright airy rooms and highly qualified staff who cater to every child’s individual needs.

We have a spacious garden for outdoor play and we have a purpose built building containing a ball pool for all the children.

We have very experienced management staff, who are dedicated to ensuring that your child has a very positive nursery experience. We have a very strong core staff, some who have been with us for many years, ensuring continuity for your child. We also have a dedicated onsite cook, who makes sure your children will be fed a healthy and varied home cooked diet.

Hadfield is a close knit community, and we have very good links with the local schools. We are also linked to Surestart and work in partnership with speech therapists, language and development officers, health visitors and social services.

Babies and Crawlers

The babies play in our newly refurbished baby room, which extends into a lovely, sunny conservatory. The staff really enjoy their work, and the environment is relaxed and homely. The babies have the option to sleep either outside in our covered pram shelter, or inside in a cot dependant on parental preference. The children stay in this room until they are 2 years old.

Toddlers

When they are 2, they move up to our toddler room. This is a bright and airy room at the front of the premises with large bay windows that the children enjoy looking out of. We start the children with more structured activities in this room, with a lot of craft, evidence of which is all over the walls! The emphasis is on learning through play and having lots of fun.

Preschool

We have an experienced Preschool team who aim to prepare your child’s journey to “big” school and make it as easy as possible. Children learn about the structure of the day, including morning and afternoon registration. The children do have free play times with a wide selection of toys available to them. We enjoy our baking sessions very much, and the children have special time with their keyworkers doing structured activities.
