Thornsett Nursery
Springfield nursery in Thornsett was opened in 2002. It is a small, rural nursery, with a fabulous ‘home-from-home’ atmosphere and a flexible offering. The management head a strong team who work together to make your child’s experience a positive one. We have very strong links with Thornsett Primary School and work closely with multi agencies.
Downstairs, there is a well set out area for our Explorers and Crawlers with a seperate area for our Snugglers. Upstairs is the Nursery School and Ready for School children who have a well equipped/partly covered outdoor play area. We have a dedicated on site cook who provides the children with good, homecooked, nutritious meals.
Our children thoroughly enjoy the child-led activities. We aim to make all activities interesting and interactive. Watching a child work through a thought process and be amazed at the outcome is a wonderful experience. In the preschool room, there is a computer set up complete with printer, and the children enjoy supervised play.
We bring the community into the nursery, inviting the emergency services, school crossing patrols etc in to come and talk to the children.
We aim to promote independence with an emphasis on personal, social and emotional skills. This includes washing hands plus we have a strong initiative on healthy teeth.
We are also able to take referrals from Surestart.
